Jan PIVARNIK
(11 13. 1947)
Born in Cejkov, okr.
Trebisov. Playing football started late, when he was 16
years old. Despite of that he soon became a great player. From Trebisov
went to VSS
(currently 1. FC ) Kosice and from
there trainer Jozef VENGLOS brought him to
SK Slovan Bratislava.
His best was a
year 1974, when he became a "Czechoslovak
player of the year".
"Gray" (his nickname due to his blond hair) was a very fast defender
with ability to
attack alongside right line all the way to the goal net and shoot
hard as well.
Represented Czechoslovak
national team 39 times and scored 1 goal. Took part
in WC
1970 (Mexico), but did not play any game.
