Karol DOBIAS

As a young football player came from Banik Handlova to junior team of Spartak
Trnava. Started as a forward, but trainer Anton Malatinsky created
from him a great offensive defensman. With a club became 5 - times Czechoslovak
champion (1968 - 73).
Players use to call him by his nickname "PATINO". Hi was fast, agil, able
to play on any defence and midfield position. Was voted in 1970 and 1971
"Czechoslovak player of the year". Played
344 Premier league matches and scored 20 goals.
For Czechoslovak national team played 67 times and scored 6 goals. Played
in WC 1970 (Mexico). In European
championship 1976 (Yugoslavia), where Czechoslovakia became a champion
, in the final match against West Germany scored second
goal.
